Urban Kasbah

Contemporary public spaces
Bainsizza square, Rome
2013

The project area is in a central neighborhood of Rome, Prati. The lot has disused pre-existing buildings and a park which seemed crucial to the inhabitants. The area, at first divided in two sides, will became an unity.

Following the concept of arabian market, the area is enriched by new functions and spaces.

The pre-existing buildings of ATAC company begin student and artist housing, laboratories, shops, and backstage of a complex public space system.

According to sustainable principles and considering the site as a plusvalue, the main existing trees are preserved and they suggest space articulation.
