Casale Torlonia, Villa dei Sette Bassi

Metric survey, analysis and restoration
Via Tuscolana, Roma
2014

The 1920's farmhouse, hat belonged to the noble family of Torlonia, but now it's owned by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities of Rome, is in the Appia Antica Park, next to ancient Roman Aqueducts and next to the ancient mansion (II Century AD) of Settimio Severo.

The  idea was to restore this disused farmhouse by giving it the new functions of Restaurant and Hotel.
The exterior appearance didn't change significantly, because this kind of farmhouse and the landascape around have a quite characteristic aspect of Rome's country.  That's why the project focuses on interiors and public spaces.
